Baby #2...3rd OB appointment

Some baby #2 updates! I had my 3rd appointment and luckily my weight gain was ok this month!! Baby's heart rate is coming down like Landon's did. Heart beat was in the 150s at this appointment. It was so reassuring to hear that little heart ticking away! I can't tell you how blessed I feel to have this little human growing in me! It amazes me daily! The baby has started moving like crazy. Landon is still a little confused. He thinks everyone has a baby in their tummy! Our house should be done before the holidays so we are anxious to get back inside!

Baby #2...2nd OB appointment!

I had my 2nd OB appointment today, and had to take Lando with me. I thought that would be fun, because he would get to hear the baby's heart beat...we've been talking all about the new baby. He thinks there is a baby in his tummy too! Pretty hilarious. The other important part of this story is that I had visited the doctor's office on Wed, because I had a terrible stomach flu and had to get fluids. They weighed me at that appointment and I weighed...134. I go to this appointment...2 days later...step on the scale confidently and it says...140!!! I freaked out!! I was thinking there is no way I gained 6 pounds in 2 days! Kind of started to panic. The nurse walked me back to the room and she says...Diane will be in to see you in a second. I said, "Who's Diane?" She said, "She's a nurse. Dr. Hansen is sick...is that ok?" I work in the medical field and couldn't believe that I was being told in the room I wouldn't be seeing the doctor. I was like that's fine...I didn't want to have to come back. She came in and was trying to find the baby's heart beat up near my belly button. I was thinking...I'm 14 weeks pregnant and my uterus is not up there yet...your not going to find it there. She finally found it when she moved the doppler after about 5 minutes and the heart rate was in the 160's. Dad and I bet today...he thinks it's a girl and I'm sticking with boy?? We will see!

To conclude, this very long story. I went to my sister Katie's house and she made me get on her scale. All was good...I was only 135. I don't think I want to go back to my OB's office and face that scale again! :) Landon loved hearing the baby and kept saying bye-bye baby when he couldn't hear it anymore! Too cute!

We are very excited and getting nervous about this new addition to our family! It's amazing the blessings God gives us even though we don't deserve them at all!

Disaster Strikes the Kirkpatrick's House!

Many of you heard, on Sunday night around 12:30 PM our house was struck by lightning. I had my normal night with girls coming over to play cards, and had just jumped into bed. It had been storming, so Ryan checked to make sure it was just thunderstorms. No tornadoes in the forecast. As we were laying there for about 5 minutes, we heard a loud crash and almost a jolt of our house. The fire alarms went off for about 5 seconds and then turned off. About 10 seconds late, I said to Ryan, "I smell smoke." He was thinking it might have been because the lightning hit close to the house. He got out of bed to go check everything out. I was waiting in bed, still smelling smoke, when I decided something had to be going on. I went into the hallway and ran into Tyler (our 18 year old roommate). I was yelling at Ryan, "I still smell smoke." Tyler said he knows...he's looking into it...he's in the basement. I, then, hear Ryan yell for Tyler to get water. At that point, I began planning my exit. Ryan said there was a bag of painting supplies on fire that he noticed first. He put that out and looked up at the wall in the basement and saw a "glow." He realized it was the gas line fairly quick, and yelled, "We have to get out of here." I grabbed Landon first, and then my cell phone. I called 911 as I was heading out of the house into the down pouring rain. The rest is history from there...Here are some pictures to tell the rest of our crazy Sunday night disaster.

Baby #2

We found out about 6 weeks ago that we are having another baby! We are so excited and can't wait for Landon to have a sibling! I had my first appointment this last Monday and everything is on track for March 6th. Babies heart rate was in the 170s. We will keep you updated as the pregnancy progresses!

Fireworks at SummerFest!

Landon had his first experience with fireworks last night, and he loved it! He kept saying "Oh Dude!" Ryan taught him to say this last night. It was pretty hilarious. We have been enjoying him so much. It seems he learns something new daily. I've been getting a little emotional thinking about him turning two in just 4 months! Time flies too quickly!
